Rutherford High School is proud to announce that RHS senior Amelia Perlmutter won a Metro Award for her performance as Cady Heron in RHS’ Mean Girls. She took home the award for "Acting Performance – Female." She was presented her award by Broadway stars Kerry Butler and David Josefsberg at Tarrytown Music Hall during the awards ceremony. RHS School Newspaper Back Issues Are Digitized
In 2019, the R-Hi (the Rutherford High School newspaper) went online at RHSNews.org. Now, back issues from the past 60 years have been digitized. The R-Hi Archives has been a year-long project, and we are happy to announce it is finally published. Jeimmy Garita (‘24) volunteered to scan each and every R-Hi newspaper that we have on hand. RHS Book Club
The RHS Book Club, led by librarian Mrs. Sherrianne Herninko, met this month to discuss the historical fiction novel I Must Betray You by Ruta Sepetys. The students discussed the character motivations of the fictional main character of Cristian as he comes of age during the Romanian Revolution of 1989. Students combined their knowledge of history along with their passion of reading to dissect and analyze the ways in with the author created an authentic reading experience. RHS English – Frankenstein’s Monster Re-Created!
Students in Mr. Stracco and Mrs. Torres' English classes have finished reading Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. As part of their final creative project, students attempted to follow in the footsteps of Victor Frankenstein and create their own perfect creature. As they worked from found materials, they kept a journal of records to detail how they created the creature, why they created the creature, and the background story of the creature.
