Congratulations to Miss Barcenas and Ms. Garcia's English 300 class! They took 1st place in the RHS NJGPA prep contest and won a bagel breakfast! Students from the entire junior class competed using practice tests on the Albert.io testing platform. The students worked on different reading and writing skills tied to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards in preparation for the New Jersey Graduation Proficiency Assessment. RHS Students Take Top Honors in NJ PTA Contest
Rutherford High School is proud to announce that three of our students have taken top honors in the New Jersey PTA statewide Reflections competition. This year's topic was "I Am Hopeful Because..." These students works' were judged against all other pieces from students around the state. Their work will now go on to the national competition.
Rutherford Students Win Elks Drug Awareness Contest
Congratulations to the Rutherford students who won prizes in the Rutherford Elks Lodge 547 Drug Awareness Contest. This year's theme was: Be Kind To Your Mind - Live Drug Free. Union Middle School students in Ms. Colleen Kiick's classes won two awards. Saisha Patel took the award for best essay in Grade 8. Madison Smith, also in UMS Grade 8, won an award for her poem. Rutherford High School junior Salma El Sherbiny won the prize for creating a video in Mr. Mett's TV Production class. RHS Video Production Student Wins State Award
Congratulations to senior Marina Faltawws who was the New Jersey state winner for the Elks Association Drug Awareness Program Video Contest. The theme of the contest was "One Pill Can Kill" and Marina's video took an introspective look into the life of someone struggling with dependence and how one friend asking, "Are you okay?" can set someone on the path to seeking help. The RHS Theatre Department proudly presents this year's Fall Play: Little Women.
