Grades 7 and 8 – Union Middle School
All students are required to take one year of English Language Arts for each year of enrollment. Students may also be eligible to take accelerated versions of English Language Arts 7 and/or English Language Arts 8. In addition, students may choose from the following electives:
- Digital Media Studies
- Got Game
- Pop Culture in Literature and the Media
- The Musical on Broadway and in Hollywood
Grades 9-12 – Rutherford High School
All students are required to take one year of English for each year of enrollment up to four credit years. Advanced English courses are also available. Eligible students may take up to four years of Honors English. Juniors may also be eligible to take Advanced Placement English Language and Composition while seniors have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition. In addition, students may choose from the following electives:
- African American Literature
- Creative Writing
- Finding Happiness Through Mindfulness
- Ghost and Horror Fiction
- Journalism in the 21st Century
- Public Speaking
- Sports in Literature
- Writing for College
