Business/Computer Department
The Business Education/Computer Department at Rutherford High School offers a variety of courses and programs designed to meet the needs and interests of students. In order to keep pace with industry, the department implements curriculum changes on yearly basis. Industry-standard software is used and creativity and critical thinking skills are stressed. A variety of programming languages are taught including Python, C++, and Java. In addition, courses teaching personal financial literacy skills including concepts from savings to investing from buying a car to buying a home are offered as well as courses in Accounting and Marketing. The department is also proud to have students participate in State and National competitions. Students participate in our FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) Club, the Consumer Bowl and The Stock Market Game. Honors Accounting, Investing and The Stock Market, and Marketing are eligible for college credit through Fairleigh Dickinson University.
