November will be a very busy month at RHS. School will be closed on Tuesday, November 6 for Election Day as well as November 8 and 9 for Teachers’ Convention. The All School Play, will be performed on Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17. The All-Sports Booster Fall Sports Dinner will be on November 20. Schools will be closed for Thanksgiving on November 22 and 23 with a one-session day on Wednesday, November 21. Our athletic teams have had an amazing fall. We are off to an amazing start here at RHS. The energy and excitement in the building has been great! During walkthroughs, formal observations, and general circulation of the building, I have seen an increase in student-driven activities, group assignments, peer-to-peer instruction and problem based-learning. I would like to congratulate our parents, students, staff and supervisory teams for successfully testing approximately 500 students per day and completing PARCC testing in just six days. I am excited to see how well our students performed. It is hard to believe that the end of the year is approaching so quickly. March is an exciting and busy time here at RHS. We just concluded a successful winter season. As busy as the winter season was, we have an even busier spring ahead. We start the month with our school musical, Cinderella, performed on March 10 and 11. There will be a very informative district-wide security meeting for parents on the evening of March 14. The popular Mike Cassidy Shamrock ‘N Run 5K will take place on March 17. Many of our students and staff volunteer for this wonderful cause. The REF is sponsoring a Harlem Wizards night on March 21. It’s hard to believe that the school year is already half over. Winter sports have begun tournament play. The senior fashion show will take place on February 7. With close to 700 tickets sold already, it is sure to be an amazing night! Students are excited for our Band Day program to be held on February 9, where clinicians come to RHS to work with high school and middle school students.
