I would like to wish the entire Rutherford Community a Happy New Year from RHS. The excitement is beginning to build as we prepare for the second half of the school year. Winter sports are off to a fantastic start. The members of our school musical have been working hard during rehearsals. Second quarter benchmarks begin on January 14 and continue through January 17. It is hard to believe that we are in December already! It has been a very exciting time here at RHS with a successful fall season capped off by state championships from our football team and volleyball team. The members of our National Honor Society competed in the annual Rutherford vs. Becton spelling bee on the day before Thanksgiving. Rutherford once again defeated Becton to start the holiday weekend off on a high note. November will be a very busy month at RHS. School will be closed on Tuesday, November 6 for Election Day as well as November 8 and 9 for Teachers’ Convention. The All School Play, will be performed on Friday, November 16 and Saturday, November 17. The All-Sports Booster Fall Sports Dinner will be on November 20. Schools will be closed for Thanksgiving on November 22 and 23 with a one-session day on Wednesday, November 21. Our athletic teams have had an amazing fall. We are off to an amazing start here at RHS. The energy and excitement in the building has been great! During walkthroughs, formal observations, and general circulation of the building, I have seen an increase in student-driven activities, group assignments, peer-to-peer instruction and problem based-learning. I would like to congratulate our parents, students, staff and supervisory teams for successfully testing approximately 500 students per day and completing PARCC testing in just six days.
