The Rutherford High School Academic Decathlon took 2nd place overall in the Regional Competition, garnering a whopping 77 individual awards! The team will now move on to states. The State Championship is on Feb. 29th.

We are excited to announce that the Rutherford high School Academic Decathlon team won 2nd place in the Super Quiz portion of the Regional Competition. Additional congratulations to Tierra Sherlock for having the highest scoring speech at this weekend's Academic Decathlon competition. Tierra will get to perform her speech at Wednesday night's awards dinner. RHS Student Wins Writing Award Honors
Congratulations to RHS sophomore Dana Serea! Dana won a Scholastic Gold Key Writing Award for flash fiction for her piece entitled "Beautiful Like Us" and an Honorable Mention for poetry for her piece "Moon Phases" in the New Jersey Scholastic Art & Writing Awards competition. This is a national competition that runs in local communities around the nation. In 2019, students submitted nearly 340,000 works of art and writing to the Scholastic Awards. UMS art student Erin Park (8th Grade) and RHS art students Dana Serea (10th Grade) and Brandon Fried (12th Grade) have been selected as winners in The Montclair Art Museum's 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. This is a remarkable achievement for any young artist. The Trial of Victor Frankenstein
As a culminating activity, Mr. Stracco's Honors 400 English Class performed a mock trial for the novel, Frankenstein. The students put the main character Victor Frankenstein, the creator of the Creature, on trial for obstruction of justice during the trial of Justine Moritz, third-degree murder for the death of William Frankenstein, and first-degree murder for both Henry Clerval and Elizabeth Lavenza.
