Our school year is flying by and we have officially crossed the midway point of the year. Please review with your children what you expect them to do if an emergency closing is called after the start of the school day. The school year is off to a great start! Students and teachers have been very busy and working hard. The teachers and I enjoyed seeing so many parents at Back to School Night and are looking forward to working together with you throughout the school year. The Parent Portal is now open for parents of students in grades 6-8. The Parent Portal provides online, real time access to grades, attendance, and other student information. Happy Spring! I know that we are all looking forward to some sunshine and warm weather after such a long, cold, and snowy winter. Throughout the month of March our students completed the Performance Based Assessment portion of the PARCC. The End of Year portion of PARCC testing will begin the week of April 27 for students in sixth grade. Fifth and eighth grade students will take the PARCC during May 4 and seventh and fourth grade students will take the PARCC the week of May 11. The school year is moving along and we have been keeping busy at Pierrepont School! It is hard to believe that we are midway through the third quarter already. We had a wonderful time celebrating Read Across America Day on February 27. Eighth grade volunteers served as readers for our fourth and fifth grade classes. The first part of the PARCC assessment, the Problem Based Assessment (PBA) will begin the first week of March. Sixth grade will test during the morning session the week of March 2. Thank you to all of the parents who visited with us during American Education Week; it was a pleasure to have you with us. Due to generosity of our Pierrepont families, the Student Council Food drive was another big success. Silver Bells, a school community program that raises funds to purchase holiday gifts for needy Rutherford families and senior citizens, is currently underway. Students can donate extra change daily and checks can be made payable to the Pierrepont PTA. Please support those in our community who are less fortunate.
