The main objective of the World Language Department is to enable students to attain a measurable degree of communicative competency and proficiency in each of the four language skills; listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In grades 4-6 students will continue their study of Spanish through the development, reinforcement, and refining of skills acquired in grades K-3. In grades 4-6 students will also gain an understanding of how the Spanish language is structured, and how they can use this knowledge to talk about the world around them. Through the teaching of culture, students will develop a cultural awareness and will be encouraged to make connections to other disciplines. All course curriculum is standards based. It is aligned with the New Jersey Learning Standards, which reflect the themes known as the 5 Cās- communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and communities.
