In honor of President's Day, Mrs. Fata's students conducted a research project on presidents. Each student was given a president to research online and through books from the library. Students wrote a report that included all important information and multiple fun facts. To go along with the reports the students also made "wearable posters" representing their chosen president. Students used yarn and cotton balls to depict the hair of the president. The poster had a cut out for the students to put their faces and arms making it wearable. Fifth Grade Novel Study
Mrs. Philp and Mrs. Smith's fifth grade classes are "Choosing Kindness" as they explore the novel Wonder, through a novel study. Reading about a fifth grade boy with facial deformity who is going to attend school for the first time, the students see how people treat someone who is different, learning not to judge a boy by the way his face looks. Through partner reading, small group and whole group discussions, and independent responses and reflections, students are able to more deeply connect to the novel while exploring friendships, family, and why it is important to choose kindness. Fourth Grade Partners with Union School for STEM Activity
Pierrepont and Union School have come together for a great new experience using Little Bits! Little Bits are tiny electric modules with electric connectors that can be used to build and invent new things. Have a Heart Food Drive
Pierrepont School's Service Club sponsored the "Have a Heart" food drive to benefit the Rutherford Food Pantry. Students collected, sorted and bagged 204 items that were donated to the pantry. Please review with your children what you expect them to do if an emergency closing is called after the start of the school day.
