The ELA students from Mrs. Bongiovanni and Ms. Scrimenti's homerooms have taught their classmates about different characters in Greek mythology. Newton’s Cars in 6th Grade STEM
6th grade students in the STEM elective at Pierrepont demonstrate their knowledge of Newton's Laws of Motion, Forces and Energy concepts as well as their engineering design skills to design, test, and improve cars made from of recycled materials. Hoops for Heart
Students at Pierrepont School recently participated in the first ever Hoops for Heart program, raising money for the American Heart Association. Ms. Mahoney, event coordinator and physical education teacher, is very proud of the students who participated. Collectively the students raised $6575.00! Hoops for Heart encourages students to take care of their heart through physical activity while making a difference in the lives of others. 5th Graders Design Lunar Colonies
Students in the 5th Grade G&T classes worked to understand the challenges of establishing a lunar colony in this Project Based Learning Unit. Working closely as a team they explored the technological, societal and safety-related issues related to the habitation of the lunar surface. Using technology to research information about the moon, students completed engineering design journals in which they considered Energy, Transportation, Sustainability and Shelter Design.
