UMS art student Erin Park (8th Grade) and RHS art students Dana Serea (10th Grade) and Brandon Fried (12th Grade) have been selected as winners in The Montclair Art Museum’s 2020 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
This is a remarkable achievement for any young artist. Since 1923, the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards have recognized some of America’s most celebrated artists while they were teenagers, including: Andy Warhol, Zac Posen, Idelle Weber, Ken Burns, Luis Jiménez, and Kay WalkingStick. A jury of professional artists, curators, and arts educators spent 30+ hours reviewing 3,570 works of art submitted by 1,330 individual student artists from across northern New Jersey. Erin’s, Brandon’s and Dana’s works were selected as part of the top 30% of the most outstanding work submitted among their peers.
Congratulations to Erin, Brandon and Dana and to the Rutherford Public Schools Art Department for fostering the passions and talents of our students.
Take a look at their winning pieces below. Additionally, Erin’s piece will be displayed at the Montclair Art Museum from February 15-March 22nd.
