As we wrap up the first quarter of the year, we are excited to share the excitement coming from the RHS Foods and Fitness Through Nutrition classes.
In Foods class, students roll up their sleeves and dive into the art of cooking and baking while gaining valuable life skills. Under the guidance of Mrs. Cafiero-O’Brien, students learn kitchen safety, recipe literacy, and hands-on food preparation techniques. From measuring and mixing to tasting and sharing, the class emphasizes teamwork, creativity, and confidence in the kitchen. Students leave not only with delicious dishes they’ve crafted themselves, but also with a practical understanding of how food connects to culture, family, and daily life.
Fitness Through Nutrition offers students a deeper look at how the foods we choose impact our energy, well-being, and long-term health. Mrs. Cafiero-O’Brien leads students in exploring balanced eating, mindful choices, and how to fuel their bodies for an active lifestyle. Lessons combine nutrition education with real-world application, empowering students to make informed, healthy decisions. Whether planning meals, evaluating snacks, or understanding how nutrients work, students learn that good nutrition isn’t about restriction—it’s about feeling strong, confident, and capable every day.
