Pierrepont School's fifth graders were asked to assist the Civil Rights Commission in creating the first student-produced holiday wreath for their contribution to the Kip Center's Festival of Trees. The theme of "Diversity" was used as a discussion point in class lessons during the Week of Respect . Students researched the traditional costumes of their cultural heritage and drew on people popsicle sticks. We have had a busy fall so far. It is hard to believe that first quarter of the school year is coming to a close! Sixth Grade Cave Art
In Sixth Grade social studies, the students have been studying The Stone Age and the accompanying cave art. They learned about the way prehistoric humans would hunt, gather, find shelter, and migrate following animals in order to survive. The students then created a writing piece that summarized a typical Stone Age occurrence, such as cooking food by the fire or spearing a wild animal. Using brown poster paper and chalk pastel crayons, they depicted that event in image form.
