Genetics Debate & Activity
Students in Mrs. Bermudez’s and Ms. Levine’s classes recently finished a unit on Genetics. Upon completion of the unit, students created an alien based on the genetic traits they got in a simulation activity. The students were able to connect their knowledge of dominant & recessive genes to discover what traits were required to draw their Alien. National Poetry Month & Earth Day 2023
Sixth Graders in Mrs. Manocchio & Ms. Levine's ELA classes took to the pavement to express their love of poetry and to celebrate Earth Day. The students have been learning how to write various poem styles, including haiku poetry. They each wrote several haikus and selected their favorite to write in sidewalk chalk outside on the schoolyard blacktop for all their schoolmates to read and enjoy. This was a great opportunity for students to express their appreciation for nature in a creative way and to share their poetry with those around them. Literacy Fair
Pierrepont School held its 6th annual Literacy Fair. All students in grades 4, 5 and 6 participated. Winners from each homeroom displayed their projects in the Media Center for the whole school to view. Students and staff voted for their favorites, as well as, most creative, best illustrated, and best use of material, to name a few. There will be some winning projects on display at the March Madness event on March 25th.
