Sixth Graders in Mrs. Manocchio & Ms. Levine’s ELA classes took to the pavement to express their love of poetry and to celebrate Earth Day. The students have been learning how to write various poem styles, including haiku poetry. They each wrote several haikus and selected their favorite to write in sidewalk chalk outside on the schoolyard blacktop for all their schoolmates to read and enjoy. This was a great opportunity for students to express their appreciation for nature in a creative way and to share their poetry with those around them. Happy writing and happy Earth Day, Pierrepont!
