March is an exciting and busy time here at RHS. We just concluded a successful winter season. As busy as the winter season was, we have an even busier spring ahead. We start the month off with another student presentation on March 4 given by the very popular Stephen Hill. This program will motivate our 9 & 10th grade students to make smart choices and positive change. Our school musical, Matilda, will be performed on March 4, 5 and 6. It’s hard to believe that the school year is already half over. Semester two began on January 27! Winter sports have begun tournament play and as always our student athletes are making us proud. The senior fashion will take place on Wednesday, February 2. It will be an amazing night! Care Plus will be hosting a parent presentation, Families on the Go on February 15 at 7:00 pm in the high school auditorium. School will be closed on February 18 and 21 for winter recess. It is amazing to me that we are already in December!!! It has been a very exciting time here at RHS with a successful fall season. The members of our National Honor Society competed in the annual Rutherford vs. Becton spelling bee on the day before Thanksgiving. Rutherford once again defeated Becton to start the holiday weekend off on a high note. Luke Marron was the overall spelling bee winner!! It's hard to believe that I am typing that the end of Quarter 1 is approaching. Quarter 1 ends on November 12 and the energy in the building has been fantastic. Because of the overwhelming number of students earning a Board of Education Award, the awards will be presented over two evenings. The first will be held on November 10 at 7 PM for Bronze Award winners. On November 17, winners of the Silver and Gold Award will be recognized. I could not be more proud of our students and staff on their adjustment back to full time in-person instruction. The energy in the building has been infectious. It is wonderful to see the return of our project-based group activities in classrooms as well as teachers circulating around to assist students and not sitting in front of a computer on zoom.
