CPA Visits Rutherford High School Accounting Class
In December, Christopher D. Petermann, a member of the Certified Public Accountant Organization, visited Mrs. Judy Leonard’s Honors Accounting class and Accounting class. The Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Organization is a national and professional organization for all Certified Public Accountants. Its mission is to provide members with the resources, information, and leadership that enable them to provide valuable services in the highest professional manner to benefit the public.
In fulfilling its mission, Mr. Petermann, an RHS graduate and a partner and the Director of Foundation Services at O’Connor, Davies, Munns & Dobbins, LLP accounting firm, gave a presentation entitled Pay it Forward. It included a video, fun facts, and quizzes about the accounting profession. Mr. Petermann spoke to the students about job opportunities in the Accounting field and the benefits of the Accounting profession, such as flexible work schedules and ease of employment. He also discussed how accounting skills could open the door to many other business opportunities. The students also learned about the many scholarships that are available through this organization. Several students applied and one student, Nick Weinbrecht, is a finalist.
