The school year is moving along and we have been keeping busy at Pierrepont School!
We had a wonderful time celebrating Read Across America Day on March 3. Once again, community members and school administrators visited classrooms and shared their favorite books with our students.
The Books and Beyond program is moving forward with great success. Students in grades four and five are reminded to continue recording their minutes. Students have until the end of the month to complete their minutes. Mark your calendars for the graduation breakfast that will be held on Thursday, April 17.
As you may know, this spring is the last time that NJ public school students will take the NJ ASK. Beginning with the 2014-15 school year, NJ students will take a new, computer based assessment called the PARCC. Rutherford Public Schools will be piloting the PARCC test this spring for randomly selected students in grades 5, 6, and 7. If your child has been selected to participate in the PARCC pilot, you would have received a letter during the first week of March. The opportunity to participate in the pilot test will allow our students and teachers a chance to preview the new assessment format. Please note that the field test will not yield a student score report and will not be part of students’ educational record.
If any parent or student wishes to nominate a Pierrepont School teacher for the Bergen County Teacher/Educational Services Professionals Recognition Program the form can be found on the district webpage. The deadline for nomination forms is March 19.
Please join us on Thursday, April 3 for the spring choral music concert. The performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the Rutherford High School auditorium.
Schools will be closed Monday, April 7 through Friday, April 11 for spring recess. School will resume on Monday, April 14.
