The Last Frontier
The grade 3 Discovery students recently completed a project based on Alaska's Iditarod dogsled race. Students designed and built a dogsled out of "found" materials. They also created a poster with information about "The Last Frontier." We all learned that the race start had to be changed from Anchorage to Fairbanks due to a lack of snowpack. Finally, the sleds were tested, using a cup, string, and weights to move them across a smooth terrain (table) and a bumpy terrain. Nature Through the Lens: Grade 2 Enrichment Students Capture Photos & Create Haiku
The grade 2 Enrichment classes went outside to take nature photos. Using 35 mm digital cameras (purchased with an REF grant), each student took 3 photographs of nature outside Washington School. Each group's photos were posted on a Google slideshow.
