Pumpkin Fun and Learning at Washington School
The students in Mrs. Gordon's class estimated the number of seeds in the pumpkin and then grouped the seeds and counted by ten to find the total amount of seeds. Grade 2 students in Mrs. Podolanczuk's class rolled up their sleeves and had a blast counting pumpkin seeds this week. First, students listened to the informational book titled "Pumpkins" to learn all about them. They were encouraged to work cooperatively in small groups in order to estimate number of seeds in their pumpkins. They then used their math skills to count over 1,000 seeds!
