The Parent Academy's next presentation, focusing on phonics instruction within grades K-3, will be held on Friday, November 14th at 8:50 a.m. in the Lincoln School Library. Presenters will walk you through a lesson and provide parents with resources and strategies to support student learning at home. This presentation will also introduce parents to the lower elementary report card that is new for all grades K-3! Third-grade students in Ms. Sampedro and Mrs. Podolanczuk's class worked together in small groups to explore math in a fun, hands-on way! Using teamwork and multiplication skills, they discovered just how many seeds can be inside a single pumpkin. To their surprise, one pumpkin had over 400 seeds!
Through this activity, students demonstrated the competencies of critical thinking and collaboration outlined in our Profile of the Rutherford Graduate initiative.

Lesson on Diwali
Students in Ms. Kosinska's first-grade class explored the traditions of Diwali, the Festival of Lights! This lesson focused on global traditions and fostered an inclusive environment that celebrates the cultural backgrounds of all students. They started by listening to a story and then connected it to real life, as classmates shared their personal experiences celebrating the holiday at home.
