Students in Ms. Kosinska’s first-grade class explored the traditions of Diwali, the Festival of Lights! This lesson focused on global traditions and fostered an inclusive environment that celebrates the cultural backgrounds of all students. They started by listening to a story and then connected it to real life, as classmates shared their personal experiences celebrating the holiday at home. The lesson concluded with a hands-on art activity where students used cotton swabs and paint to decorate their own colorful Diya lamps!
