February's topic of discussion was self-respect. Many students came to the conclusion that taking good care of oneself is an excellent way to practice self-respect. Students also discussed characteristics and traits they value in themselves and how self-respect is defined by a person's value system. Advisory Notes – December 14th, 2020
Today in advisory we discussed diversity and the difference between acceptance and tolerance. Seventh grade students, through video, discussion, and songs, identified how we perceive bias and prejudice and the steps we can take to stop the cycle. Eighth grade students, through the presentation of two unique stories, learned that tolerating others is not a positive reaction to diversity.
