A major goal of the Social Studies Department at Union Middle School is to help students become effective citizens through exposure to various courses in American, World, and Contemporary Studies. Students practice skills to enable them to problem solve and communicate, as well as analyze, synthesize, and evaluate information. These skills will prepare them to participate in their government and make informed decisions about the world around them. The Social Studies Department at Union Middle School provides a strong curriculum, is aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, and prepares our students for the challenges of the 21st Century. The Social Studies Department is continuing to increase the use of meaningful technology in the classroom and focus on the 4Cs- creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication skills.
