Students in Mrs. Manocchio & Ms. Levine’s social studies classes recently engaged in an exciting debate, as a culminating activity for their unit of study on Ancient Mesopotamia: “Which Mesopotamian ruler was “greater”? Sargon The Great or Cyrus The Great?” Students learned how to appropriately prepare for a debate, craft solid arguments with evidence from their learning, and express opposing viewpoints in respectful and thoughtful ways. Each and every student made insightful contributions during the activity, piggybacking on the points of others while also bringing up new ideas of their own. A fun and engaging learning experience was had by all! Great job, 6th graders!
