In Mrs. Stallone’s STEM class, fifth graders learned about permeable pavement, which is a solution to water pollution caused by stormwater runoff. Students had a budget of $200 to buy supplies to build their models of permeable pavement. The students tested the pavement by determining if a wind-up toy could walk across it and if the pavement could absorb water. Students then made improvements to their designs based on their results.
