Pierrepont students got excited about reading by sharing one of their favorite books with the rest of the school during the Literacy Fair, which took place during the week of Dr. Seuss’ birthday. In the project, they demonstrated their knowledge of the parts of a book and the components of a story. They were also able to show off their artistic side by presenting it on a storyboard with three-dimensional elements. Projects will be displayed at the REA March Madness Food & Fun Day at Washington School. NJSLA Testing
Dear Parent(s): Beginning with the 2018-2019 school year. New Jersey transitioned from the PARCC assessment to the New Jersey Student Learning Assessment (NJSLA). The NJSLA is also computer based assessment. The NJSLA will be administered to our students from April 8, 2019 – April 16, 2019. All students will test in the morning. Pierrepont Students Raise $8,247 for the American Heart Association
Students at Pierrepont Elementary School recently participated in the Kids Heart Challenge, raising money for the American Heart Association. Ms. Mahoney, event coordinator and physical education teacher at Pierrepont, is very proud of the students who participated as the group raised $8,247! The Kids Heart Challenge encourages students to take care of their heart through physical activity while making a difference in the lives of others. Sixth Graders Celebrate International Women’s Day
For International Women's Day, the students in Mrs. Bongiovanni and Ms. Scrimenti's homerooms participated in a game of Jeopardy centered around famous women throughout history. The students studied the material prior to the game and worked in groups to earn points. The topics included literature, sports, and famous leaders and activists. Some of the answers included Susan B. Anthony, Queen Elizabeth I, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Maya Angelou, and Marie Curie.
