Sixth Grade Cave Art
In Sixth Grade social studies, the students have been studying The Stone Age and the accompanying cave art. They learned about the way prehistoric humans would hunt, gather, find shelter, and migrate following animals in order to survive. The students then created a writing piece that summarized a typical Stone Age occurrence, such as cooking food by the fire or spearing a wild animal. Using brown poster paper and chalk pastel crayons, they depicted that event in image form. Field Trip To Mt. Rushmore
Ms. McManus' class took a field trip to Mount Rushmore...right from the comfort of Pierrepont School! The 6th graders got to test out the newest technology addition, virtual reality goggles, as they continue their novel study of "Walk Two Moons" by Sharon Creech. In the novel, the main character Salamanca visits the famed stone monument and contemplates how the Native American culture is not honored on the land they once inhabited.
