Pierrepont School is excited to kick off our Kids Heart Challenge (formerly Hoops for Heart)! This year the students at Pierrepont will have the opportunity to help spread kindness while raising awareness about heart disease and stroke. Our goal is to create a hallway of kindness! Fundraising will run from February 24 – March 13. By signing up online, students will be encouraged to take a kindness pledge. Cultivating kindness through self-awareness and caring, Ms. Engels, Mrs. Macri, Ms. Lyon, Mrs. Smith, and Mrs. Philp's classes came together to explore the key to kindness. Reading the book -ish by Peter Reynolds, the 4th and 5th grade students engaged in discussions about the importance of being aware of their actions and being kind and caring toward others. Students then created puzzle pieces that represented themselves and what makes each and every one of them special in their own unique way. The Green Team at Pierrepont School has been working extremely hard bagging, weighing, and recycling plastic bags. To date, we have been able to recycle just over 2,000 pounds of bags! That is just about 200,000 ShopRite bags! Our last drop off will be April 3. Thank you to all who have contributed to this effort.
