A Classroom Chat with a Paleontologist
Students in Mrs. Manocchio and Ms. Kosinska/Ms. Levine’s Social Studies classes are learning how to identify ways that historians study the past through primary and secondary sources. To delve deeper into the content, students were able to engage in a Zoom call with classroom aide Mrs. Wisniewski’s daughter who is a PHD student studying paleontology. Students were able to see pictures of fossils that Mrs. Wisniewski has worked with and how her research continues to advance the field of paleontology. Fourth Grade Science Scavenger Hunt
Students in Ms. DelMastro and Mrs. Barone’s science class are learning about weathering and erosion (root wedging and ice wedging) in their Mystery Science unit: The Birth of Rocks. Students did a scavenger hunt around Pierrepont School looking for evidence of this type of weathering in sidewalks, taking pictures using their Chromebook.
