Students in Mrs. Manocchio & Ms. Mitchell’s 6th grade Language Arts classes visited several 4th grade classes to read the student-created myths that they have been working hard creating for several weeks. The writing task was part of a final culmination in the 6th grade reading unit on Greek Mythology. The students used the online technology platform Book Creator to publish their final drafts, allowing them to illustrate their stories with images that reflected the plot, characters, and themes of the myths. The 6th graders incorporated many of the elements of mythology that they had learned in their reading unit as they crafted their writing pieces. They were eager to share their efforts with the 4th graders, who were respectful and interested listeners. The younger students were also able to ask their older counterparts questions about the writing process, which allowed for a rich exchange of creative ideas. A fun and informative time was had by all!
