As part of a writing project, Mrs. Smith's Community 201 wrote letters with words of advice to Mrs. Smith’s class from 2011 who are current RHS juniors. Ivy Kelly was the first to receive a hand-delivered reply from Evan Gordon, a junior at RHS. For more than a decade, Mrs. Smith's 2011 second grade students have been writing to her during the summer months. Ms. Kessler’s first graders worked on expressing their opinions during Writer's Workshop.  After reading Hey, Little Ant, the students discussed ​whether​ the ​character​ in the book would squish the ant OR save the ant. As part of a writing project, this year’s Community 201 has written letters with words of advice to Mrs. Smith’s former second grade students from 2011. These 2011 students are currently juniors at Rutherford High School. In order to bring this project full circle, Community 201 took a walk to the Rutherford Post Office to mail the letters. On the way back to school, the class stopped at Dairy Queen for a treat.
