Thanks to a grant by the Rutherford Education Foundation, Lincoln School will be hosting Lunch Bunch Book Club for students in grade three. Here’s how it will work. Students will receive a book one month prior to the meeting. Meetings will be listed on the Google calendar. On the day of the meeting, we will enjoy some lunch together, while discussing the books that we read. I cannot think of a better way to spend lunch! As shared at Back to School Night, Lincoln School is working this year to develop hard character traits in our students. Recent research by Dr. Duckworth, Dr. Powell, and Dr. Dweck on character education has examined why some people are able to be successful while others cannot overcome obstacles. Researchers have discovered that successful people often possess hard character traits. Lincoln Woods Update
As the first phase of the trails nears completion, the landscape contractor has made great progress. In order to prepare the ground for excavation, trails were marked and a 6-8” layer of wood chips were placed on top of the prepared ground to make the area safe. The Shade Tree Committee then added temporary demarcation roping to make the trails visible. Halloween
It’s about that time again...time for the Ghouls & Goblins to roam at Lincoln School! We have a few helpful hints to make sure that our upcoming Halloween parade is fun & safe. If possible, have children go home for lunch to change into their costumes. Please return the permission slip Halloween Permission Form to the teacher by Monday, October 27th. Week of Respect
The Week of Respect is October 7-11. During the month of October, Lincoln School students will learn about, and celebrate, acts of kindness to others. Students will participate in specific activities to demonstrate respect for each other. Ms. Huzzy, our student assistance counselor, will visit classrooms during the month. Pierrepont’s “Friends of Rachael Challenge” will also visit Lincoln School to discuss how Pierrepont students show kindness and will encourage our students to pledge an act of kindness!
