Welcome back to an exciting 2019-2020 school year! School opens for all students on Thursday, September 5th. Throughout the summer many teachers came to school and prepared their classrooms to make them exciting and welcoming. It’s hard to believe that we are halfway through the program! In addition to pre-assessing students, here is a quick peek at what the students accomplished the past few weeks. In kindergarten students recognized and learned the sounds of the letters A through N. They identified the numbers 1 - 6 and practiced counting numbers while making crafts. Summer Enrichment Academy Soars
Students soared through the second theme learning about flight. In Reading, students used their strategies to identify main idea, problem & solution, story elements, cause and effect, and non-fiction text features. Students collaborated to discuss facts learned about the Wright Brothers, Amelia Earhart, hot air ballooning and parachuting. Did you know that roosters and sheep were the first passengers to ride in a hot air balloon??
