
Grade 3 Gardening
After NJSLA testing, grade 3 students participated in a lesson on seeds and planting, hosted by Computer Skills / Enrichment teacher, Ms. DeBouter. Mr. Charlie LoBello, a long-time Rutherford resident whose children attended Washington School, volunteered his time and expertise to engage the third graders in a hands-on lesson. Mr. LoBello and the Rutherford Shade Tree Commission contributed pots, soil, and seeds so that each grade 3 student could take home a potential plant. Union Middle School 8th Graders Teach Math at Washington School!
This week, our first graders at Washington School had some very special guest teachers—8th-grade students from Union Middle School! As part of a cross-grade collaboration, the middle schoolers planned and taught engaging 30-minute math lessons on first-grade topics like addition, subtraction, telling time, and identifying shapes.
