Coach Helphingstine, along with STEAM Team members Jack Mauro, Ambur Patel, Gabby Pakovics, and Sam Kudrna, participated in the VEX Robotics Qualifier competition, where they placed first, and also the VEX Robotics State Championship, where they placed first in both the skills and teamwork categories and increased their overall score from 113 to 146 points. The STEAM Team works tirelessly, coming in at 7 a.m. each morning and working until 6 and even 8 p.m. in the weeks before a competition. The hard work has certainly paid off, as Mr. Helphingstine’s team is currently ranked 116th out of 5,327 worldwide teams. Going into the World Tournament, the coach and team members hope to finish in the top 50 teams of the world and maybe even win their division. With a total of 32 active team members that regularly attend meetings on Tuesdays and Thursdays after school, it appears that Mr. Helphingstine will never be short on talent and can look forward to his future teams continuing the journey to the VEX IQ World Tournament. Congratulations on these amazing achievements, and good luck in the tournament!
