Fourth-grade students in Mrs. Stallone’s STEM class learned about earthquakes and how engineers design buildings to reduce the damage they cause. Students made their own model buildings, using tuned mass dampers or base isolators to help the building stay standing. Students then used their SAMLabs kits to make an earthquake simulator that would shake, just like a real earthquake. The fourth graders put their designs to the test this week and enjoyed seeing the results of their hard work!
