Fifth grade students worked together in STEM class to engineer green roofs in order to reduce water pollution caused by stormwater runoff. Their green roofs had to absorb 1 cup of water without any runoff occurring and their buildings had to be at least 9 inches tall. The students were also limited in using a set amount of materials, so they had to be extra resourceful!
