The 2014-2015 school year was a huge success. Students learned math using Math in Focus program and often commented that math was their favorite subject! Many students loved using the SMARTBoard in the entire first through third grade classrooms for instruction. Open-Mindedness
This month Lincoln School is focusing on the hard character trait- Open-mindedness. We want the children to learn to be tolerant of ideas, culture, people, foods, and experiences. The students may not always agree with one another, but they can learn to listen, summarize and maybe even reflect on a different perspective. The teachers will teach open-mindedness by discussing points of view in literature, history or resolving a conflict between two students. Hard Character Trait- Optimism
This month Lincoln School is focusing on the hard character trait- Optimism. We want the children to learn to find the positive side of life. Research shows that people who are optimistic are healthier and have better coping strategies. At school we will be discussing how to find the goodness in a situation, learning that even rough times will pass, and seeing there may be a way to solve a problem.
