Trait of the Month- Forgiveness
This month Lincoln School is focusing on the hard character trait- Forgiveness. The act of forgiveness requires forgiveness for others, and sometimes you must forgive yourself. When you choose to forgive, the barriers are torn down, and the record is wiped clean. We teach our children to say, “I am sorry,” “I was wrong,” “Will you please forgive me?” The important phrase here being Will you please forgive me? SOUPer Bowl Food Drive
Students participated in the SOUPer Bowl Challenge from January 22nd to February 1st. Students brought in their favorite can of soup to donate to the Rutherford Food Pantry. Students placed their can(s) on the table of the team they thought would win Super Bowl LIII on February 1st, creating a real pictograph with their cans! Students placed 117 items on the New England Patriots table and 249 items on the Los Angeles Rams table. Students Honor Dr. Martin Luther King
Dr. King's work was recognized across the grades. Many students studied Martin Luther King in their classroom. Students discussed what it meant to have a dream and talked about Dr. Martin Luther King's dream. Students had to decide what their dream would be. First graders brainstormed ways to make the world, school, or community a better place. Students listed topics such as stopping pollution and bullying, helping the homeless, and being fair.
