I am sure you all received the report card for the second trimester. I would like to publically thank the teachers for all the reflection and consideration they give to this process. I am sure you would agree that the teachers’ comments show their knowledge of child development and their craft. I like that the teachers acknowledge the positive attributes of the children and then give them a suggestion on how to continue excelling. Read Across America
Lincoln School celebrated Read Across America Day/Dr. Seuss' Birthday last week. NEA's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2nd, the birthday of beloved children's author, Dr. Seuss. Oh, The Places You'll Go, Dr. Seuss' whimsical tale, was this year's theme. Food Collection
The Rutherford Food Pantry is in desperate need of restocking. The Pantry has over 175 Rutherford households registered to receive services totaling more than 365 persons. In addition to the usual requests for food and personal hygiene products, they will be collecting new items such as: umbrellas, wallets, children’s coloring books, crayons, body lotions and powders, shampoo and conditioner. The Great Kindness Challenge
During the week of January 26th students will participate in the Great Kindness Challenge. Students will receive a list of acts that will show them specific ways they can make the world better each day. A list of acts is attached. Parent Letter_GKC Students can then see if they were able to accomplish any of the tasks during the week. Building in spirit days to remind students of ways to be kind will also enhance the week.
