In order to teach students about different cultures and traditions, we do recognize holidays celebrated in December like Christmas, Chanukah and Kwanzaa. We also discuss other holidays like Diwali and the Chinese New Year throughout the year. Our first grade students participate in a thematic unit about geography and holidays celebrated around the world and students learn about giving to others through our Mitten Tree. Election Excitement Hits Lincoln
For the past two weeks second graders participated in an interdisciplinary unit on the election process. Students brainstormed issues facing them, selected the two most pressing issues (dance party and one week of no homework) and then ran campaigns to have their issue passed! On Monday the second grade teachers held a political rally where students persuaded the audience to support their cause.
