The PTA will once again this year organize a collection of new mittens, hats, scarves, and gloves to be donated to a food pantry from November 28 to December 21. Teaching About Democracy
All the students in second grade participated in an election unit. Students selected two issues of interest: second snack and extra recess time. Students under the guidance of their teachers researched the issues noting positive and negatives of each issue. Students then wrote and presented persuasive speeches to their peers in an effort to gather votes for their given issue. Second graders even made posters and displayed them throughout the building to get some of the undecided voters to vote for their cause. Food Drive
In order to teach our students about gratitude and compassion we are collecting food for the Rutherford Food Pantry. Please consider donating one or two non-perishable food items such as canned vegetables, pasta, soup etc. In addition the workers at pantry mentioned that families can also use lotions, shampoo, conditioner and umbrellas. Citizenship
