A STEM experience to remember
Mrs. Herninko and several students from Union School welcomed 3rd graders from Washington School for a STEM experience to remember. The 3rd graders used zSpace to work with 3D models of animals and learn more about their adaptations. They were taught by our 3D printing team how to use TinkerCAD and all were able to 3D print their own personal keychains. SOUPer Bowl Food Drive
Students participated in the SOUPer Bowl Challenge from January 22nd to February 1st. Students brought in their favorite can of soup to donate to the Rutherford Food Pantry. Students placed their can(s) on the table of the team they thought would win Super Bowl LIII on February 1st, creating a real pictograph with their cans! Students placed 117 items on the New England Patriots table and 249 items on the Los Angeles Rams table. Pierrepont School Spelling Bee
On January 24, Pierrepont School hosted its annual spelling bee. Forty eight spellers, representing finalists from each homeroom, gathered for an intense afternoon of spelling. Throughout many rounds over 220 words were spelled and the Scripps National Spelling Bee list was exhausted. Two sixth graders, Zadie Castellanos and Debora Morales Menjivar, were the final two spellers. Our winner, Zadie Castellanos, will represent Pierrepont School at the county level spelling bee in March.
