Rutherford High School is proud to present Popcert 42! This will be the 42nd year that this dynamic musical exhibition has been presented in the Rutherford High School Auditorium. It was first developed as a way to celebrate "popular" music at a time when school choirs and bands focused on traditional music. Over the years, it has morphed into a variety show featuring bands and solo performances. UMS Students Win Elks Club Writing Contest
The Union School English Department is proud to announce two local winners of the 2025-26 Drug Awareness Writing Contest. This year's theme is: "Drugs Are a Grave Mistake." Hawa Arande’s essay, “I Will Never Forget the Day” and Mia DiLorenzo’s poem, “I Never Planned on Becoming a Story” were both selected by the judges as outstanding entries. Both students received $25 Barnes & Noble gift certificates for their achievements. In addition, Hawa Arande’s essay was advanced by the committee to the State level. RHS Concert Choir Performs at Carnegie Hall in NYC
On March 23, 2026, the Rutherford Concert Choir sang at the esteemed Carnegie Hall under the direction of University of Kentucky Director of Choral Activities, Jefferson Johnson. For the past two months, students worked extremely hard to learn challenging repertoire and rehearsed with choirs from Kentucky and North Carolina. Union School Choir Students Accepted into All-State Choir
The Music Department is pleased to announce that 10 Union Middle School Concert Choir students have been accepted into the NJMEA/NJACDA All-State Junior High Honors Choirs. Among them, 3 students achieved scores within the top 10% of their voice part. They will perform at New Providence High School on Saturday, May 2nd 2026.
