Throughout the school year, teachers at Washington School invite “Mystery Readers” to come into the classrooms to read to their students. Mystery Readers are family members of the students who, during a designated date and time, come into the classroom to read. The “mystery” is that the student and their classmates do not know the person, date or time the Mystery Reader will be coming.
Mrs. Hughes and Mrs. Fesken’s class kicked off our Mystery Reader program when Mrs. Doyle visited their classroom last week. The children really enjoyed listening to the story, Vunce Upon a Time. The class was motivated as readers and writers when they heard that the story was written by Siobhan Vivian who grew up in Rutherford!
Ms. Krawiec’s class welcomed Matthew Venture’s grandmother, who surprised her grandson as a Mystery Reader.
