We’ve enjoyed a terrific start to the school year. Our teachers and students are in full stride as we move into the busy months ahead. There are quite a few activities and events for you to be aware of as we enter the holiday season. There are three opportunities in November alone for all parents and guardians to take an active role in their child’s/children’s education and in our school community. We hope to see you at each of these events.
Parent Visitation Day
All parents and guardians are invited to visit your child’s classroom on Tuesday, November 13 for National Invite Parents to School Day. You will have the opportunity to participate in an interactive lesson with your child. The initiative is part of the National Education Association’s American Education Week celebration and is designed to spotlight the importance of parental involvement. A grade specific schedule was sent home last week.
Conference Time
Parent-Teacher conferences will be held in the evening on Thursday, November 15 and during the day on Friday, November 16. You conference time should already have been scheduled. Please contact your child’s teacher if you are unsure of your scheduled date and time. Please note that Thursday, November 15 is a one-session day. Dismissal will be at 12:30 p.m. for our Full-Day Pre-K class, Pre-K 4, and grades 1-3. The Pre-K 3 class will be dismissed at 10:30 a.m.
Thanksgiving Celebration
Our annual Thanksgiving Parade and Assembly Program is scheduled for Wednesday, November21. Weather permitting, we will begin with our outdoor parade at 8:35 a.m. Our assembly program will immediately follow the parade in the multipurpose room. All parents and guardians are encouraged to attend. All guests are asked to bring a donation of a canned/dry food item. Our food drive will benefit those served by the Rutherford Department of Social Services. If we experience inclement weather, the parade will also be held inside beginning at 8:45 a.m. All guests will be permitted to enter the multipurpose room beginning at 8:35 a.m.
Assembly Programs
Thanks to our very supportive PTA, our students enjoy a variety of educational and entertaining assembly programs over the course of the school year. In the coming weeks, we will be hosting two such programs. The first is titled Freedom Within. The program focuses on Mindfulness and Meditation. It supports our school goal related to Mindfulness and Growth Mindset. Next, our students and staff will be treated to the Garden State Ballet’s performance of The Nutcracker.
