Dear Washington School Families,
As we head into the homestretch of these last two months of school, we can reflect on a very successful year, despite the challenges we faced. A collective spirit and the belief that we could overcome adversity made all the difference. I’d like to commend our entire staff for their hard work, professionalism, and dedication. I thank all of you, as well, for your support, encouragement, and trust. One group, in particular, that I want to recognize is our wonderful lunch staff. While all involved in our school community contributed to our success, our lunch staff played a particularly vital role in keeping our schools open all day. I am grateful to them for their contribution. We are looking forward to a few Spring events that will continue to bring more normalcy to our school. Please read on for more details.
Purple Day for Citizenship May 5, 2021
Each year we learn about the Six Pillars of Character through our Character Education Program. Beginning in December, we focus on a different pillar each month, culminating in our Rainbow Day in June. Our Physical Education teacher, Mr. Bligh, reads a story that coincides with the current pillar. He then assigns activities for in school and at home that the students are encouraged to complete. Our pillar for the month of May is Citizenship, designated by the wearing of something purple on Wednesday, May 5.
School Pictures
We are scheduled for school pictures on Monday, May 17 and Friday, May 21. We have two days planned in order to fit all of our cohorts into the schedule. Times will be set aside for the students in our remote cohorts to come have their pictures taken. Schedules will be sent home shortly.
Third Grade Class Photo
As we did in 2020, our Third Grade Class Photo will be a collage of individual photos of our third grade students. Unfortunately, we will not have a group sitting this year.
New Parent Orientation
We are planning to host our annual New Parent Orientation on Wednesday, June 2. It will be held in the multipurpose room with attendees appropriately socially distanced. We will begin at 7:00 p.m. More information will be out shortly.
Field Day
Plans are in the works to bring Field Day back this year, albeit on a little different scale. We are looking at dates in early June to host the event at our school.
Third Grade Breakfast
Plans are also in the works to bring back four annual Third Grade Breakfast. This event will be held during the final week of school.
