Online instruction will begin on Wednesday, March 18. We will be operating on a One-Session Day schedule. Thus, instruction will take place from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. for our students in grades 1-3. In many cases, instruction will be delivered through Google Classroom. Classroom teachers will post lessons and activities. Students will complete their lessons and activities and “Turn in” the assignments they are directed to. Lessons will be provided in all subject areas including Reading, Writing, Phonics/Word Work, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Specials teachers will be providing assignments and activities through Google Classroom as well.
Students will be also be working on educational websites that we utilize at Washington School including Kids A-Z (literacy), IXL Math, Math in Focus-Think Central, TumbleBooks, BrainPOP, and more. Students brought home materials they may need including necessary writing journals, reading books, and practice workbooks. We have supplied Chromebooks to families that made a request.
Students are expected to be engaged completing assignments between the designated hours of
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. They may use additional hours, as well, as needed. Teachers will be online and available to students during these same hours. Questions submitted after these hours may be addressed to same day or by the following school session.
Assignments and activities are also being provided for all of our Pre-K students. Teachers will be communicating via email. They will be sharing daily assignments and links to instructional websites. They may also provide lessons via PowerPoint presentations and video recordings.
Our Specialists, including our School Nurse, Student Assistance Counselor, Speech teachers, and Child Study Team members, will be available via email.
While our current circumstances are not ideal, I am confident that we will work together in the spirit of Washington School to provide a positive learning experience for our students. Thank you for your support and cooperation.
